Seen any good movies lately? Sure, there are some great ones that have emerged, but let's talk about those 80's classics that we all owned on VHS at one point or another. Those movies had an impact on our entire binge-watching upbringing! Whether you were scared out of your mind, encouraged to tell your crush how you really felt, or wanted to battle the entire galaxy, these classic movies inspired us all...

1. The Princess Bride

This classic not only pulled at every adventurous heart in the 80's, but also generated some of the most quotable lines to this day. From undying love, wicked sword fights, defeating giants and battling to the wits, this movie would almost seem inconceivable! Just watch out for R.O.U.S's. Not sure what that is? You'll have to watch! You want to know the next movie on the list? As you wish...

2. Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Ah..Ferris Bueller. If you ever wanted to know the key ingredients for skipping school, this was your inspiration goldmine. Bueller was notorious for playing hooky and having the adventures of his life while everyone thought he was dying from illness. The two people that knew the truth? Principle Rooney and his relentless older sister, Jeanie. This movie is definitely a favorite; not to mention the roll call scene. "Bueller...Bueller...Bueller..."

3. Ghostbusters

Who yah gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! This movie brought action and comedy together with some iridescent green slime, giant marshmallow monsters and ghost fighting parapsychologists. Who can resist Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver all in one film? Not to mention, ghost zapping back pack guns that may or may not look humorlessly like a leaf blower.

4. Sixteen Candles

Alright, time for one of the 80's classic chick flicks: Sixteen Candles. Question: What's worse than your crush not knowing how you really feel? Answer: Everyone in your family forgetting about your birthday and your crush finding a secret note about him during school. Sixteen Candles brings back those butterfly feelings for the popular guy in your school, the fun, poofy-dressed prom dances and the excitement for teenaged "happily ever after" endings.

5. Alien

Okay, grab the nearest pillow and only watch this with one eye open. Alien not only scared the pants off of everyone who watched it, but it was so highly praised, it was deemed "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.
  1. Trapped in space
  2. Unknown creature lurking for victims
  3. Trying to save all humanity by returning to Earth alive and without unleashing this alien onto human soil.
'Nough said.

6. The Goonies

The Goonies movie made every group of friends want to go on a grand expedition. Treasure hunting like Indiana, close friendship like Stand By Me and fighting off the bad guys on a pirate ship like...pirates! The Goonies is filled with action and adventure...and Baby Ruth candy bars.

7. Footloose

Footloose movie goes out to all of those who have a little swing in their step. Footloose had everyone dancing by the end of the movie. Whether you were dancing in your room or in the middle of a misty forest, nothing made you feel more alive! This flick brought the fun trend of dancing and created a memory in everyone's heart. Also, who doesn't love a little teenaged rebellion; especially if it involves cuttin' a rug.

8. Caddyshack

This movie was a hole in one back in the 80's and to this day. With a large bet on a golf match, what could go wrong? A crazy grounds keeper, a dancing gopher and a whole lot of explosives...that's what. Plus, this was one of Bill Murray's first films to star in.

9.The Breakfast Club

We all had our drama in high school: crushes, tests, stereotypes, cliques, etc. That's what The Breakfast Club focuses on. This movie is heartfelt and dives deep into the lives of five different teenagers. From jocks to geeks, freaks to preps, who knew detention could be so informative?

10. The Empire Strikes Back

How could we not add Star Wars on here? This film brought Luke to the force, introduced the incredible Yoda and revealed the BIGGEST surprise known to the galaxy...and to man. The Empire Strikes Back had mixed reviews, but it has since grown in esteem. It became the highest-grossing film of 1980 and, as a result, became the most critically acclaimed chapter in the Star Wars saga. It was also selected for preservation in the United States' National Film Registry. Everyone had this movie on VHS. In conclusion, out of the Star Wars movies, the force is strong with this one.
