How to Survive a Long Flight

Now that travel is back in full swing, it’s time to book a flight! We know that traveling can be a little boring at times, especially if you’re booking a long travel flight.

So, wondering how to survey a long flight?

We have some options to keep you entertained!

Word Search or Sudoku

Before you get ready to board your plane, make sure you take a visit to your local grocery center, such as Walmart or Target. If you head to the magazine section, you will find tons of crossword puzzles, word searches, sudoku and more! These are very inexpensive and will provide hours of entertainment. Solving puzzles will help keep your mind preoccupied and busy. It’s also lightweight to pack in your carry on bag! Whether you use it on the plane or waiting at the gate in between flights...you’ll be entertained for hours!

Download your book

One beautiful thing about technology is that you can now download your book. Whether that be a digital copy or through an audio download, you can have your mind escape into a different world with your book. Pick up a fiction book so that your mind can relax. Reading fiction books can also help your brain sleep better! Reading allows your muscles to relax and slows down your breathing, leaving you calmer! If you’re stressed out from your flight, grab a good book, hunker down and get ready to dive into your story.

Crafting

Sounds crazy, but there is actually a great way to craft on the plane, specifically knitting or crochet. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Thread cutting necklace (yes this is a thing and you can take it on the plane with you!)
  • Yarn
  • Wooden crochet needles or knitting needles.

That’s it! You can bring this on your carry-on bag and crochet or knit away on the flight. You can make a scarf on the go, crank out some homemade washcloths, or even a beanie if you’re traveling somewhere chilly. This is a great activity to keep you busy during your flight. Plus, you get a beautiful handmade something out of it!

Movies

If you have a device that will allow you to download movie content or tv shows, do it! This could be your time to catch up on your favorite show, sit back, and relax! Two things you cannot forget: Your headphones and your phone charger! You’ll want to be able to listen to your content. You could even watch some home movies on the go if you had your memories digitzed!

Stress Relief / Sleeping

We understand that flying can be stressful. Long flights, uncomfortable seats, sometimes some babies that aren’t very happy, and you have to wear your mask 24/7. Here are some things to help keep you calm and stress free during your flight:

Essential Oils

Bring a few essential oils that can help you breathe! You can put a small drop on your mask so that you can inhale and exhale without having to hold open a bottle. The best essential oils to use to stay calm are lavender, orange, lemon, bergamot, ylang ylang!

    Wear a comfortable outfit

Wear comfortable pants and shoes, and always pack a sweater. You can use your sweater as a pillow, blanket, or throw it on if the A/C gets too cold on board.

      Ear Plugs

If your sensory overload becomes overwhelming, pack a pair of ear plugs to eliminate sound

Have fun traveling, make some great memories and make your flight fun!!
