Every march, there’s an amazing event that collectively brings society out of its collective hibernation hole, giving the masses something to cheer about.
No, it’s not the madness of college basketball. It’s spring break!
Welcome to sunshine, shorelines and a week of uninhibited freedom from school, work and the general responsibilities of adulting. But not all spring break vacations are created equal. Some exotic destinations have the overwhelming impact you want but at a price that’s equally overwhelming. Other locales feel like you’ve penny pinched and the result is woefully underwhelming.
So where can you go this spring to get the biggest bang at the lowest buck? Check out our list of 2018’s spring break getaways for your mind and your wallet.
Florida Beaches
If affordable and ample amounts of beach is what you’re looking for, then Florida has your spring cravings covered. Hot spot destinations like Myrtle Beach, Forts Myers and Walton, and Daytona offer spring breakers cheap oceanfront hotels, miles-and-miles of sandy beaches, great nightlife scenes and beautiful weather to boot.
Puerto Rico
This little Caribbean destination is a great place to go somewhere tropical without needing your passport. Exotic beaches and bargain flights from the East Coast make Puerto Rico a top of the list spring break destination. The fact that the local drinking age starts at 18, well, that doesn’t hurt either.
Cancun, Mexico
If there were a spring break poster child, it would be Cancun. This Mexican party paradise can’t even be typed into google without “spring break” auto populating as the number one search choice. Although a bit higher on the price side, Cancun has it all – entertainment, eats, all-inclusive lodging packages, beautiful beaches and weather that will leave you speechless.
San Diego, California
How San Diego has been the best well-known secret city of California is beyond us. San Diego provides breakers with all the beach and entertainment life that L.A. offers, but in a package that feels homier and less scuzzy. San Diego just feels like good clean pacific party weather.
Grand Canyon, Arizona
It’s hard to pass up one of the wonders of the world in arguably one of the best times of year to see it. If you’re feeling adventurous, take a 2-3-day hike down into the canyon and get the full experience of the spectacle from a different perspective. It’s a truly unforgettable experience.
Portland, Oregon
Although this pacific northwest place has beaches, Portland is a great spring destination for its blooming cherry trees, roses, and other vegetation – but is most widely known for its plethora of activities like cycling, hiking, eating exquisite hipster cuisine and drinking local brews.
Nashville, Tennessee & Austin, Texas
If the beach life is second fiddle to your love for all things music, then Nashville is a great city that comes alive with the sounds of music in the spring. From live music (including the infamous Blue Bird Café) to southern BBQ and a busy bar scene, Nashville has plenty to do and see.
Austin is also a music lover’s ear dream. With more than 250 live music venues, including the Austin City Limits festival, Austin is the perfect place for checking off the band bucket list and discovering new favorites.
From beaches and canyons to hipster eateries and music festivals, these spring break destinations have your best interests (physically and financially) in mind.
