Packing Your Photos for Digitization

Have you recently ordered a Legacybox kit online? Congratulations! You’re one step closer to making sure your most precious memories are digitally preserved for a lifetime.

There’s no better way to preserve photos, films, tapes, and audio than digitization, and here at Legacybox, there’s nothing we love more than digitizing your media for you!

If you’ve gotten a Legacybox with digitizing photos in mind, you may be wondering what the best method is for packing those photos into the Legacybox. The most important thing to consider is that each of our kits accommodates a certain number of sets of photos. The table below shows how many photos each package size accommodates.

 Package Size

Number of Photos Accommodated

Starter (2 Items) 2 sets of 25 photos (50 photos total)
Family (10 Items) 10 sets of 25 photos (250 photos total)
Closet (20 Items) 20 sets of 25 photos (500 photos total)
Trunk (40 Items) 40 sets of 25 photos (1,000 photos total)

No matter which size Legacybox kit you choose, you must send your print photos in sets of 25. After you’ve sorted your photos into sets of 25, you can package them in envelopes, sandwich baggies, paper bags, etc. It’s really up to you!

The only photos we do not accept are photos larger than 8.5x11 inches and photos in any sort of sleeves, frames, carousels, boxes, or albums. When photos are individually packaged in these types of materials, it slows down the digitization process significantly, so we cannot digitize materials sent in these types of containers.

When you’re packing your Legacybox, you can neatly stack each bag or envelope of photos on top of one another. If you like, you can fill the box with bubble wrap or some other type of packaging material. The crushproof box we send you, however, should provide plenty of protection to your prints. Once your Legacybox is packed, just send it our way! You can expect your newly digitized copies plus the originals back on your doorstep in 6 to 8 weeks.

We hope this information on packing photos into your Legacybox was helpful. If you have any questions regarding your Legacybox, you can always call our customer service representatives who will be happy to help. Thank you for choosing Legacybox!
