'Tis the season of gift giving! Feeling a little stuck on what to give your loved one for Christmas this year? Don't worry, we created a list of 4 amazing and easy DIY gifts that will make your loved one feel extra special this year. 

Paw Print Ornament

Do you or your loved one have a fur baby at home? This is the perfect gift for those animal lovers out there and a great way to preserve a keepsake of your loving pet.

 

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • ½ cup hot water
  • ½ cup salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Matte Finish Mod Podge
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Ribbon
  • Gold Paint Pen or Sharpie

 

Steps:

  1. Mix together hot water, salt and flour. Kneed it together with your hands until it forms a dough ball.
  2. Roll out dough until ½ inch thick
  3. Take a cup and cut out circle shapes of the dough using the opened end of the cup
  4. Gently press your pets foot into the center of the circle to make an imprint.
  5. Using a drinking straw, but a whole in the top of the print for the ribbon to fit through
  6. Preheat oven to 225F and bake circles for 2-3 hours until solid
  7. Once cool, paint the imprint to make your pets paw more prominent
  8. Write your pets name and the year on the front or back using your pen or sharpie
  9. Add a coat of Matte Finish of Mod Podge. Sprinkle glitter generously.
  10. String a ribbon through the hole to hang your ornament.

 

 

Mason Jar Cookie Recipes

Everyone has a sweet tooth, especially when it comes to cookies. Why not make your loved one’s Christmas extra sweet by giving them a full heart full of joy and a full stomach full of cookies?

 

 

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Mason Jar
  • 1 ½ cup flour
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • A Note Card
  • Pen
  • Whole Punch
  • Twine or Ribbon

    Steps:

    1. Place all dry ingredients into cookie jar, one ingredient at a time to create a pretty layer.
    2. One the note card, write the rest of the ingredients:
    3. 1 egg, 1 cup butter, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 tbsp. water. Preheat oven to 350 and bake for 10 min.
    4. Punch a hole through the note card and tie twine or ribbon around mason jar and through the notecard.

     There you have it! A whole batch of cookies ready to go for your friends and family members.

     

    Helping Hand Oven Mitts

    Do you have a friend or family member who loves to cook? This gift will not only keep their hands safe, but give them that extra helping hand that they might need.

    Here’s what you’ll need:

    • Oven Mitts
    • Paint (any color)
    • Puffy paint (any color)
    • Paint brush
    • Paper plate

     

    Steps:

    1. Place Oven mitts on a flat surface, removing and stickers or tags attached.
    2. Open paint and place a quarter size amount on a paper plate. Next, take paint brush and begin painting the inside of your hand until completely covered.
    3. Place hand on oven mitt and press to create a perfect hand stamp. Slowly lift hand off of the mitt.
    4. Once dry, take a puff paint and write your name and date near your hand print.

     Super easy, but also super thoughtful. This sweet gift will be cherished with every dish that is made.

     

    Heart Map

    Is there a specific place that you and your loved one met? Became best friends? Started dating? Got married? Why not document those special places and preserve them forever? This gift can showcase your hometowns, different cities or special places where memories were made.

     

    Here’s what you’ll need: 

    • Two maps (One significant city/town/state and another significant town/city/state)
    • Scissors
    • Pencil
    • Black Sharpie
    • Frame with white back ground
    • Glue Stick

     

    Steps:

    1. Lay both maps down flat and begin to lightly sketch a heart shape around your significant cities. Make sure the size of your hearts will fit into the frame.
    2. Once heart is to desired shape, begin to cut out heart shape of map
    3. Do the same to second map (2 hearts total)
    4. Once complete, take both hearts and glue to the white background of frame
    5. Write a significant year, such as when you met, became friends, started dating etc. below the hearts with sharpie.

      This awesome gift will be a constant reminder of any special date you and your loved one share together. No matter the gift, your friends/family members will feel extra special this Christmas season!
