It’s that time of year! Where you can finally pull out the fall decorations, consume pumpkin flavored everything and wear your favorite fall sweaters…even if it’s still 85 degrees outside. This fall, why not create great memories with these great fall decoration ideas?
Garland of Leaves and Photos
Have your home prepared for the fall season with beautiful garlands of leaves. This super easy and fun DIY craft will bring your home to life, and it will remind you of all the wonderful people you are thankful for this season! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Real leaves or fake (from your local craft store)
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- String
- Scissors
- Pictures
- Take your string and determine how long you'd like your garland to be. Cut your string to that length. Snip snip!
- Next, take your leaves and apply a small drop of hot glue to the tip of the stem. Apply a small drop of glue to the middle back of your photos.
- Take string and place leaf (with glue) on to the string, as well as photo. Repeat until your string is full of beautiful leaves and loving family images!
Giant Spiders
No, not real spiders…don’t worry. This will be the show stopper of your front yard – plus, this is a great DIY with your kids! And (another extra bonus) your yard will be leaves free! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Large black garbage bags
- Large rubber bands
- White construction paper and black marker
- Leaves or newspaper for stuffing
- Tape
- Optional for legs: Black Streamers, pool noodles, garbage bags.
- Take your large garbage bags and begin stuffing! Whether you use those pesky leaves in the back yard, extra newspaper or extra grocery bags-anything will do!
- Tie up your grocery bag once stuffed
- Next, take your large rubber band and tie off a smaller circular shape on the grocery bag. This will be the spider's head.
- Cut out construction paper in the shape of eyes and draw in the pupils. Tape on easily!
- For the legs, you can use black streamers, pool noodles or cut long strips of black garbage bag to tape on the sides.
Place your creepy crawly out in a tree, right by the mail box or on your front porch for all trick or treaters to see!
Glitter Hanging Leaves
Similar to the garland, this craft will bring your home to fall life! Displayed across like a garland or dangling down, your glitter leaves will exude October! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Real leaves or fake leaves ( available at your nearest craft store)
- Glue
- Gold, copper and silver glitter
- String
- Scissors
- Hot glue
- Disposable paint brush
- Take your string and determine how long you'd like your garland to be. Cut your string to that length. Snip snip!
- Next, take your leaves and brush a dime size of glue across one side.
- Select your glitter color and sprinkle across the glued side until covered. Flip and repeat glue and glitter application. Repeat to all leaves and let dry.
- Once dry, apply a small drop of hot glue to the tip of the stem.
- Take string and place leaf (with glue) on to the string. Repeat until your string is full of beautiful leaves!
Mums the word!
Yet another simple and sweet touch of fall to make your décor magic easy peasy! A little mums can go a long way. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Mums ( of any color )
- Optional to decorate with pumpkins
- Optional baskets for flowers
- Locate your nearest department store, grocery or florist that sell mums.
- Pick your colors - maroon, orange, yellow and white are great for fall colors!
- Place mums into baskets. Set mums near your front door, use a few sprigs of mums for a table setting or hang in a plant hanger! Your home will have the perfect touch of fall with this easy floral decoration.
Mason Jar Table Setting
If you’re going for more of a fall country-esque theme, this DIY is perfect for you! Your kitchen table will be the perfect display for fall decoration. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Mason Jars
- Fall Paint ( neutral orange, white, gold - whatever you prefer)
- Paint Brush
- Twine
- Sand paper
- Scissors
- Fall flowers (real or fake)
- Paint the outside of each mason jar to the color of your taste and let dry.
- Once dry, take your sand paper and gently sand off the paint that covers the mason jar letters. This creates a country shabby chic look.
- Next, take your twine and cut off 1 foot in length. Tie a sweet bow around the neck of each mason jar.
- Place real or fake flowers, pinecones or branches inside your mason jar and set on your table. Voila! Your home screams "FALL!" with this look.
Hay! Use Hay!
So many hay rides, so little time! Why not bring it to your front door? This adorable front door, fall decoration idea will warm many hearts this season! Here’s what you’ll need:
- Small bales of hay (found at Tractor Supply Co.)
- Ribbon of your choice
- Pumpkins are optional
- Cut off a long portion of your ribbon.
- Tie a bow around your small bales of hay and place on front porch or door step.
- If you have pumpkins, this is a perfect stage just for them! Place your pumpkins on top of your stacked bales of hay and voila! You're a natural when it comes to fall décor.
